British Inland Waterways on the Air, 2023
January 2024
Set up in the Rosliston Forestry Centre area, near the Greenheart lake (Photo 5), the team kept us updated throughout the day with their adventures. They advised that their entire weekend operation was run via solar power and battery banks. This enabled them to operate in line with the current environmental project guidelines for the Centre. Jacquie Johnson (2E0JQY) reports that the team had a mystery wire HF antenna (W5GA) and the team mainly operated on the 40m band as well as a little 6m band work too. With Inter-G contacts coming through wonderfully, they made a total of 37 QSOs. Contacts in Ireland, Scotland, Brittany and Belgium were among the highlights. The team also made several BiWOTA contacts as well.
Highlights of the weekend were; Mark 2E0MGA trialling his new logbook; Nathan M0NXD turning up with toasties and drinks for everyone and the Inter-G propagation. A team member remarked One of the best weekends, with like-minded mates playing radio, I think we have had in a very long time. Bring on next year.
