Rosliston Forestry Centre Science Day
Sat, 27th April 2024
On Saturday 27 April, South Derbyshire and Ashby Woulds ARG set up stations at the Rosliston Forestry Centre, Rosliston, South Derbyshire, to support its science day. Members were active on HF voice, HF F8 and 2m FM.
Interest from the public was slow at first but, as other activities outside finished, people began to move inside out of the cold wind and several people spent time around the Group's tables. It was nice to be able to interact with the youngsters who showed interest in the hobby.
The Forestry Centre had just been approved as a POTA site and, Nathan, MONXD was able to be the first operator to activate the location.
Mark, 2EOMGA did a sterling job on HF contacting a few special event stations around the country, while Richard, G5RJH operated the 2m QRP station. A visit from two new club members, Gary and Fiona, brought much appreciated support.
All in all, it was a very worthwhile event and members wish to thank the staff at Rosliston Forestry Centre for inviting them and for their help on the day.
